Ready to fly high

The important theme in this book so far is flight. It is important because in this book almost every character shows flight atleast once. The turning point in this book was when Bigger took flight and ran away from the crime scene of the investigation of the murder of Mary Dalton, and then hid away.

"His desire was naked and hot in hand and his fingers were touching her" - Pg 270

This shows flight because since he had her like that he took flight and raped her. After this, he was done he took more flight into action and killed Bessie with a brick. Then he took more flight and disposed of her body down the shaft in the abandon building.

"He reached out and grabbed a paper and in the act of grabbing it he turned and looked at the man who was looking at him, a ciggerette slanting whitely across his black chin." - Pg 280

He took flight because he stole a newspaper just to see who they have pinned the murder of Mary on and what their doing about the situation so far. Once he got away and read the newspaper he found out that the law was sweeping the whole Southside looking for him, they even went to his house to look and confront his mom about him. He immediately took flight left the spot and found a new place to hide, so he can figure out a plan to get away.
