The most important theme thus far for me is Fear. Atleast everyone is scared of something. No matter how tough you be, no matter if you're a girl or a boy, and no matter your age there is always something that makes you feel fear. You can feel fear of your self. It doesn't have to be nessesary that it's a living that you are afraid of. For example, You can be afraid of who you will become and loose that one special person that is important in your life and walksaway from you.
In the book the theme fear is the one that plays the most important role. For example, Bigger is afraid of telling the truth just because he's black and feels that they're not going to believe him. And they're going to accuse him of not being an accident. Also Bigger is afraid confessed his crime to Bessie. Now that she knows he is not in it alone he doesn't feel lonely. She knows and she is involved. He knows that if she tries to rat him out, there will be a consequence:" i'll have to kill you. So help me God."(pg.181) (Tan)
Anothet quote that caught my eye was the one from when Bessie is having a conversation where she is trying to convince Bigger not to send the ransom letter and not to make her get involved in his stuff. "Yeah; i killed that girl,"he said."Now, you know. You got to help me. You in it as deep as me! You done spent some of the money..." There is where he knows he has her dominated.
