False Evidance Appearing Real

Fear is the most important theme of the book thus far because of three reasons. The first reason is because Bigger is the black man and doesn't know what white people are capable of doing. The second reason is the Dalton family fear for their daughters life. The last reason is Bigger's fear of whats going to come in his future since people are starting to know he was the killer. These are three examples in the book of fear.

"Bigger please.... I don't want to do it."(pg 174, Tan). Bessie has fear in helping Bigger with his scheme. She is forced by bigger to help him with it . Bigger makes her leave the note. which has a possibility of getting her caught. Bessie fears Bigger and what he could do to her. So out of fear Bessie helps Bigger.

"Mr. Dalton's face was dead - white and his blood - shot eyes were deep set in his head"(pg 201, Tan). Mr. Dalton is in fear if where his daughter is. In his mind he probably thinks of horrible things happening to his daughter. the rest of the Dalton family are in fear as well. Mary Dalton is a mischievous girl and could get in a lot of trouble because of this they realize they could never see her again. Fear is a big part of Native Son in every ones mind. They might not show it on the outside all the time but the fear in them is still there. That's why fear is the most important theme in the book thus far.
