Sonny Corleone - Corruption

I believe Sonny Corleone is corrupt. I think the best example of this so far is at the end of page 15 and the top of page 16, it says "Sonny Corleone, despite the presence of his wife and three small children, had plans for his sister's maid of honor, Lucy Mancini." Then later on pages 27 and 28 the two of them (Sonny and Lucy) have sex in the Don's "office". Before reading about Sonny's affair with Lucy you find out that Sonny's wife strongly believed that people had to be married to have sex, which makes Sonny seem even more corrupt when you find out he's having an affair.

Does Sonny change his ways later in the book?
Why does Sonny seem so corrupt? and the Don's other kids not so much?
