In The Crucible the characters are so stuck on the religious aspect in their lives that they let it consume their whole lives. As soon as one person gets accused of being a witch, everyone points the finger at whoever seems to be acting weird in any way. Its funny how they think they're all pure when really they arent civilized enough to understand what purity means.
Like in The Crucible, alcohol is a huge role in teens lives these days. They let it consume their lives in ways similar to how religion affected the people of Salem. Alcohol makes people make poor decisions based on impulses like witchcraft did back then.

Seperation

I picked "Landslide by Stevie Nicks" as my song that relates to seperation. It's about losing your loved one and no matter what brings you down, you can always make your own life. Even if you're afraid, life will work out as it should. I think behind the words, it really touches people's hearts and most people can find themselves relating their own experiences to this song whether you lost a loved one by breaking up or if they died. This song is a way to cope with rough times. I think it's simply perfect musicly and lyricly and a classic!
"I've been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you, but time makes you bolder, children get older. I'm getting older too."
I think the Corleone's have lots on their plate more often then one of them dies. They have respect for their deceased loved ones but they don't know how to deal with grief or put time aside to heal themselves. Maybe someday the Don will have closure for his son's death probably when the murderers are caught. If they let music into their hearts they could probably get closure without having to put somebody to their death because violence won't bring Sonny back. Grief is a personal thing, everybody's measure of grief is different depending on the relationship they had with the loved one they lost.
"None of you are to commit any acts of vengance, none of you are to make any inquiries to track down the murderers of my son without my express command."

blinded by boldness.
Native Son's most important theme is blindness because the characters' blindness plays a big part in the main events. Bigger is blind to the way white people live their lives, which ultimately shows his fear because white people always treated him like property. He is also blind to the fact that not all white people believe in treating black people poorly.
Bigger ends up killing Mary Dalton out of his own fear based on his blindness to Mary's intentions. Mary intimidated Bigger because not only was he in a new atmosphere but he was surrounded by whites controlling his every move. But because she treated him like a human, he was thrown off and didn't know how to react. Mary represents blindness on the count of her boldness towards Bigger. Questioning him, and trying to get to know him shown through Bigger's fear because he never interacted with whites before. Therefore leading up to his murderous actions.
-"The guarded feeling of freedom he had while listening to her was tangled with the hard fact that she was white and rich, a part of the world of people who told him what he could and couldn't do."
Because Bigger felt intimidated by what Mary was saying to him and how she treated him, he was unsure of how to behave. He was almost afraid which was shown through his anger. nobody, and a white girl at that, spoke to him like Mary had ever in his life.
-"He stared at her in a long silence; it was the first time he had ever looked directly at her, and he was able to do so only because he was angry."
