McCluskey
Was McCluskey mortal or corrupt? How was his life while growing up? McCluskey was helping 'Sollozo' out, their plan is to get 'Michael. They say "McCluskey is slower and dumber," (p.141). McCluskey was an officer who did not make much so he took this offer that was given to him by Sollozo. While growing up his family didnt teach them good from bad, they just taught him and his siblings how to survive when you have not very much money coming in.

A Black boys fate
"In number 666-983, indictment for murder, the sentence of the court is that you, Bigger Thomas, shall die on or before midnight of Friday, March third, in a manner prescribed by the laws of this state."(417)
If Bigger was a white man they may have let him off with life in prison or maybe even something lighter then that, but because back in these days whites and blacks were segragated the role of hatred played in his sentencing. Whites hated blacks just because of their color and becuase a black person committed a crime they would throw anyhing on top of it to make it so he would have. If Bigger didn't act so Listless about things towards the end maybe he could have gotten life in prison, but his hate for whites and how they were treating him overtook hi thoughts and he stopped caring about how things would turn out.
Biggers race connected with the hatred the white people had for him. Him being black was a big disadvantage for him in court. If he wasn't black they wouldn't have tried to pin rape on him or mobbed out in front of the courtroom like they did.

Loeb & Leopold
"The ones who killed that boy then tried to get money from the boy's family. . . ."
(Bessie.136)
In the events both killed and tried to get ransom money for it. The only difference is Bigger's was an accident and things seemed to happen as they went along while Loeb and Leopold planned their murder a year ahead of time and seemed to have everything in order except for the glasses left behind. Bigger Loeb and Leopold all aeem to be careless but Bigger was actually nervous and the boys found some sort of thrill out of it and did other activities in the process of the murder.
Loeb and Leopold thought they had everything in order but were blind to the smallest details and the little thing is what got them caught. As for Bigger he's trying to get things in order but in the end a little detail like him licking the envelope may get him caught and sent to jail.
"If you were in Bigger's situation would you have tried to run? Or would you have stayed and tried to cover up your tracks like he is doing?
"Do you think you would feel more guilt? Or more frightened?
