The American Dream isn't an american dream unless the person that lives it dies For example Gatsby was living he threw parties he had money boats cars clothes everything that a person that was living the american dream had But when you live the dream for a long time like all dreams it ends. Gatsby made the american dream look easy because he lived like he was rich and did things that rich people that live the american dream do and didnt have any regrets. Gatsbys only reason to get rich was to find daisy and by doing that he lived the american dream he could have had all the girls he want but all he wanted was to get the girl he loved and wanted to recreate the past with her so when you want something like that and you live the lifestyle of being rich and having no regrets.
