The ward is like a school Mcmurphy being the most popular person in the school and cheswick is kinda like the nerd. That Mcmurphy took under his wing and made him stand out more then the other patients and get him to act out thats how Mcmurphy persuaed him to act out in meetings and agree with whatever he wants.
Mcmurphy plays a big influence on the acutes in the ward and the way the acutes handle things or there reactions to the big nurse and the people on the ward too. Cheswick and the rest of the acutes couldn't be leaders or couldn't think on there own and when someone with as much will power to act out and do what he wants it kinda persuase people and makes them feel tough like cheswick feels. Before he wouldn't say anything in the meetings or wouldnt even agree on anything but as soon as McMurphy goes to the ward Cheswick says something about the carnival the quote is "Uh-I personally believe that a carnival is a real great idea something to break the monotony". that quote is one of the examples that shows how Cheswick got persuaed by McMurphy to want to do the carnival.
To me this book is kinda all about persuasion and insanity because every event has to do with someone getting persuaed or even getting influenced to stick up for there selfs and be an actual person
