After the deep sea fishing trip, the Big Nurse and the black boys decided it would be necessary to give Bromden, McMurphy, and the others, a "special shower" because they believed that if they didn't clean them, they would spread a disease around the facillity. They used a stinky ointment on the men and rubbed it in their hair and around their butt-naked cheeks. When it came around to George's turn, he freaked out. Everyone knew that George never let the black boys clean him, nor anyone else for that matter and it had been that way for a long time. However, the black boys felt it was their chance squeezed the ointment all over him. George begins screaming, "No! No!" as he is violated in the shower. McMurphy stands up against the black boys to stop abusing him. McMurphy and the black boys both knew that this could only be settled with a blood-curtling fight. McMurphy fights three of the black boys at once, taking a lot of punches, taking his time taking them out as the other men surround the fight, hollering and hooting for McMurphy to win. One of the black boys gets knocked out cold in the shower and the other is thrown down by Bromden in a wrestling struggle. The other black boy, however, escaped out of the shower with straps and cuffs for every man in the shower - Now those men are considered dangerous.
"...then McMurphy shoved the black boy away and went into a crouch, rolling the big shoulders up to guard his chin, his fists on each side of his head, circling the man in front of him. And that neat, silent line of nude men changed into a yelling circle, limbs and bodies knitting in a ring of flesh." (Page 230)
